Developing land to satisfy challenging environmental requirements

SJE has been a major contributor to the land development industry in Albury Wodonga over the last 20 years. We’ve designed in excess of 4,000 residential lots since the establishment of our business.

In undertaking this work we:

  • Carry out feasibility studies to determine the economic viability of a project;
  • Identify environmental and cultural heritage issues relevant to the site;
  • Prepare layout plans to maximise economic yield and aesthetic appeal;
  • Work up detailed design plans for Council approval;
  • Negotiate and arrange contracts for construction; and
  • Supervise construction works to satisfactory completion.

SJE is currently working with the developer of Spring Park, a residential development located at Thurgoona that comprises approximately 125 lots. This project involves development of water-sensitive urban design to maximise the best use of precious water resources.

Not all bridge projects are the same!

Bridges and culverts are an important part of our road network.

At SJE, we’re not always asked to design new bridges. We regularly review existing bridge structures – large and small. Here are some examples of our work:

Walking track bridge over the Goodradigbee River at Tumut – The NSW Lands Department commissioned SJE to design a 52 metre suspension foot bridge. Engineering personnel from the Australian Army subsequently installed the bridge to gain practical experience in bridge construction.

SJE has contributed to the design of a potential tourist asset for north east Victoria. We assessed existing pylons over Lake Hume and developed a concept plan for the Sandy Creek Rail Trail Bridge.

We also assessed the Edgars Road Bridge at Koetong in the Upper Murray and other timber trestle bridges to determine their potential for rail trail use.

Murray Irrigation contracted SJE to assess and report on the service condition of 61 irrigation canal crossing bridges in the Murray Irrigation District.
